What's a credit limit?

It’s the full amount of money your credit card provider has made available for you to borrow. It’s based on things like how long you've been a customer and what your history with credit cards has been like. Your 'available credit' is your credit limit minus any outstanding balance on your card. You can sign up to text or email alerts that’ll keep you up-to-date on your balance and available credit.

You’ll find your credit limit on the letter you receive with your Barclaycard and on your statement. It’s also shown within Barclaycard online servicing and the Barclaycard app too.

We might put your credit limit up from time to time – depending on how you manage your account. You can ask for a new credit limit via Barclaycard online servicing – simply go to the 'Request a new credit limit' page and we’ll see what we can do for you. Log in or register for Barclaycard online servicing.
