What's a credit limit?

A credit limit is the maximum balance you can have on your Barclaycard at any time. To decide what your limit should be, we take a few things into account, including how long you've been a customer, and how you’ve used credit cards in the past. You'll see your limit on your monthly statements, in Barclaycard online servicing and on the Barclaycard app.

Your 'available credit' is your credit limit, minus the amount that's outstanding on your card.

You can sign up to get text or email alerts, to keep you up to date on your balance and available credit.

Depending on how you manage your account, we may get in touch about increasing your credit limit. You can ask us for a new credit limit through Barclaycard online servicing too, just log in, or register, if you haven't already.
