Barclaycard customers are financially protected against genuine credit card (Chip  PIN and contactless payments) fraud.

From time to time, we may call you to ensure that the spending we are seeing on your account is genuine. These calls have nothing to do with your credit worthiness - we are simply trying to ensure that the person using your card is you.
