Is there a minimum amount I need to have in my account to pay with contactless for travel?

You'll need to make sure you have enough available funds in your account to cover the cost of your fare. You can check your account balance using Barclaycard online servicing. Once logged in you can set up alerts to help you manage your account with ease. Simply select 'Alerts and notifications' under the 'Your details' tab in the top menu. To register or log into Barclaycard online servicing, just click here.

If you don't have enough available funds in your account you may still be able to complete your journey, but your card will then be temporarily stopped and you won't be able to use the card to make any further journeys. You'll then need to contact Transport for London (TfL) Customer Services on 0343 222 1234* to settle the outstanding amount and re-activate your card for travel. You can also pay any unpaid fares through your TfL online account. Please be aware that it may take up to 30 minutes before you can use your card to travel again.

If your account isn't in order (for example if you’ve gone over your credit limit), you'll need to give us a call on 0800 151 0900.

*Call charges apply – please visit tfl.gov.uk/callcharges for details.
