What is a one-time verification code and why do I need one?

A one-time verification code helps to protect your account and keep it secure. Sometimes we'll ask you to confirm it's you when you're shopping online, or using other online services.

If we have your up to date mobile phone number you may be given the choice to confirm it's you by using a one-time verification code that we can text to you.

We can only send the code to a mobile phone number we hold for you and the code is only valid once. Never give anyone else your code.

What do to if your mobile phone number is not up to date:

You won't be able to confirm it's you using our text message service.

If you're trying to log in, you may be able to use the card security code (CVV) off the back of your Barclaycard instead.  If you're unable to do this, then you will need to call us to update your number and our team will also be able to help you with your query.

If you're trying to reset your details you'll need to call us to do this.

If you're shopping online you'll need to choose a different way to confirm it's you. You may be able to select PIN sentry or if you're registered for the app and have a Wi-Fi connection you can confirm it's you with just a few taps. You need to be 18 or over to use the app. T&Cs apply.

When you update your mobile phone number for security reasons it can take up to 10 working days before you'll be able to use it to confirm it's you.
