I’ve been trying to make a contactless payment of up to £30, but it keeps declining. Why?

From 1 September 2015 your contactless limit is increasing from £20 to £30.  It’ll take up to two months for this change to happen everywhere, so you may find that sometimes you can’t use it for purchases up to £30 straightaway.

It could be that you’ve been using your card somewhere that hasn’t yet increased their contactless limit. This issue should be resolved by 1 November 2015.

If your payment cannot be made with contactless then you’ll be prompted to use chip and PIN.

If you are a Barclaycard MasterCard customer your limit for making contactless payments is £20.
