Is there a minimum amount I need to have in my account, to pay with contactless for travel?

You'll need to make sure you have enough available funds in your account to cover the cost of your fare. You can check your account balance using Barclaycard online servicing. Once logged in, you can set up alerts to help you manage your account with ease. Simply select 'Alerts and notifications' under the 'Your details' tab in the top menu. If you’re not already, log into, or register for Barclaycard online servicing.

If you don't have enough available funds in your account, you may still be able to complete your journey, but your card will then be temporarily stopped and you won't be able to use the card to make any further journeys. You'll need to contact Transport for London (TfL) Customer Services on 0343 222 1234* to settle the outstanding amount and re-activate your card for travel. You can also pay any unpaid fares through your TfL online account. Please be aware that it may take up to 30 minutes before you can use your card to travel again.

If your account isn't in order (for example, if you've gone over your credit limit), you'll need to give us a call on 0333 200 9090. *Call charges apply, please visit tfl.gov.uk/callcharges for details.
